Liana’s Italian Restaurant – food review

If you are looking for a little ripper of an Italian Restaurant you cannot go past Liana’s Italian Restaurant in Parramatta. Situated on the corner of Phillip and Church St, Liana’s Italian Restaurant is back in the original owner’s hands and better than ever.

Whether it is for a quick pasta or special occasion this is a great place to eat. Liana’s offers a wide variety of fine Italian cuisine which portrays both the authentic and classic flavours of Italy. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone.

We at Two Flat Whites have been a few times in the recent weeks and have been delighted trying a wide range of dishes from the Pasta, Risotto, Salad and even a wonderful Steak. As you would expect with an Italian Restaurant, there are Pizzas to be had and Liana’s offers something very different to most with its famous square Pizzas which are hearty and full of fresh ingredients. What also will entice customers is the size of the servings which are very generous and come at a very reasonable price.

The food is scrumptious, but you cannot beat the fantastic service. The waitresses are friendly, enthusiastic and always smiling. So now is the time to venture into Parramatta and have a great meal. Let them know that Two Flat Whites sent you!

Melange Restaurant – food review

Two Flat Whites dined at a terrific new restaurant in Gordon last week called ‘Melange Restaurant & Cafe’ . Melange offers a great atmosphere, presentation and accommodating service all working in harmony, with the four chefs from different backgrounds and regions propelling Mélange Restaurant and Cafe into the winners’ circle. This exceptional North Shore restaurant tempts with flavours ranging from a happy twist of home style cooking to the rare and exotic. Herbs and spices are masterfully utilized in duck, seafood, steak, fresh vegetables, crust, glazes and the unequaled jus. The chefs present the kind of food patrons actively remember and return for.

The unique Modern Australian concept is visible in the food which is exotically presented and always served with a smile. The ‘Mélange’ of various regions and cuisines is incorporated in the specials menu which takes you to a different level altogether. The style of food is simple yet creative and the type of service is formal yet friendly.

You can experience the food at its very best every Thursday night when all the chefs put together a degustation menu which changes every fortnight. It is recommended to make reservations in advance. The plus point is that if you are a celiac or vegetarian or have any kind of allergies they will design a special degustation menu for you to make sure that you don’t miss out on any of the excellent flavours.

At Mélange you can also book for big groups and choose from their various set menus according to your taste, appetite and budget. Mélange is open 7 days a week from 6:30am till late for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Prime Restaurant – food review

Two Flat Whites dined at Prime Restaurant & Grill Room at the GPO in Sydney recently. This restaurant oozes class. Prime Restaurant has been named best steak restaurant on many occasions & has been awarded so many other honours. If you are looking for the ultimate fine dining experience this is the place for you.

As you make your way to the GPO Martin Place in Sydney & walk into Prime Restaurant the first thing that makes you realise that this restaurant is something special is it’s décor. With its New York style & sandstone interior, relaxed feel & friendly service, your fine dining experience has already begun.

The food was scrumptious. All the food is fresh & made daily by their top class kitchen. We started with the Sautéed Porcini Mushroom & Goat Cheese Risotto which was breathtaking. It was the best risotto we have ever tasted. As side dishes, we chose the Pan Fried Potatoes, Rocket & Mixed Herb & Leaf Salads.

We then proceeded to consume our Wagyu beef. Now if you haven’t heard of Wagyu beef, they are cattle bred in Japan & this meat is regarded in many parts of the world, as the best beef. For those of you who appreciate red meat Wagyu is regarded as the highest grade beef in the world, with a marbling score of A12.

Wagyu beef is the most flavoursome & tender beef you will ever try. It melts in your mouth. We chose to dine at Prime Restaurant for its range of Wagyu beef mixed with the best Australian beef. If you enjoy your steak, you should try Wagyu. To accompany this gorgeous meal, we chose one of the many Australian & worldwide selection of wines, a little French Red number called ‘Montirius 2004’.

Last but certainly not least, was the dessert. The Apple Terrine; it was Apple Pie with a strip of pastry & topped with cinnamon ice-cream. If you haven’t tried cinnamon ice-cream, give your tastebuds the chance and they will not be disappointed.
