National Trust Festival 2008

The 2008 National Trust Festival  celebrates our rich cultural heritage & is one of the longest-running community festivals in New South Wales. The festival theme this year is ‘Our Place’. It encompasses hundreds of fantastic events across metropolitan and regional NSW & runs through to Sunday 20th April 2008.

‘Our Place’ is about Australia and its people. ‘Our Place’ is a home, a building, a club, a street, a business, a trade, a playing field, or a theatre. ‘Our Place’ may also be a museum, an art gallery, a restaurant, an historic site, a garden, a shopping mall, or a sports stadium. ‘Our Place’ is a shire, a region, the state, our country, our place in the world, even a place that exists in collective memory, or a future place.

A wide range of community activities are on offer this year, including architectural discovery tours, art exhibitions, walks, talks, awards, photography competitions and community fairs. We’ve added an exciting new digital dimension to the festival this year with the launch of a photo competition and image based weblog supported by the NSW Architects Registration Board. We encourage you to visit us online and submit photos which capture our built environment and sense of place.

The National Trust established the Heritage Festival 28 years ago to remind people to care about their built, environmental and cultural heritage. These concerns remain as relevant today as they were then. The National Trust continues to advocate for the conservation of our cultural heritage and historic landscapes, and we continue to rely on your support to achieve these goals.
